Join Fr. Patrick Barnes, Jen Messing, and other young adults from around the Twin Cities and beyond for an opportunity to connect in the relaxed atmosphere of Lutsen Mountains and Cascade Lodge. This 3-day winter getaway will allow us to set aside our electronics, get us talking, and engage both body and soul.

GETTING OUTSIDE…
Participants may choose from an “a la carte” menu of activities on Saturday & Sunday: downhill skiing, snowboarding, XC skiing, or snowshoeing. Please come prepared to “pay as you go” but also provide your preliminary choices on the registration form. Jen is an experienced downhill ski instructor and will offer free instruction to help both beginner and intermediate skiers get comfortable with the terrain.

RETREAT ELEMENTS…
Casual talks about our Catholic faith and the Theology of the Body will be inserted into our evenings and time on the bus. Fr. Barnes will offer daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration for our group while at Cascade Lodge.

TRANSPORTATION & TIMING…
We will be renting a coach bus to accommodate up to 40 people; if we have a smaller group we will scale down to vans. Meet and leave your vehicle at the office parking lot, then check in at 8:30 am on Friday for a 9:30 am departure (it will take time to arrange gear in the undercarriage or vans). We will return by 10 pm on Sunday evening.

NOTE: we will have a rest stop at Thompson Hill Rest Area in Duluth around noon on Friday; this can serve as a pick-up point for those in the Northland! Cars cannot be left at this location for more than 10 hours. IF YOU NEED WEEKEND PARKING, the Park-n-Ride near Carlton is available and we could arrange to pick you up there. We have a limited number of parking spaces by the cabins to accommodate those from other areas, so please inquire!

LODGING…
Our cabins are 10 minutes away from Lutsen, 2 hours north of Duluth on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We will have men and women in separate cabins, sharing space with between 6 – 12 other participants (depending on the size of the cabin). To accommodate a group that will have just met, we will all bring our own sleeping bags; though most will lay them out on the queen and king size beds, we will be looking for a few folks who don’t mind sleeping on the floor with a sleeping pad.

MEALS…
All meals will be provided from lunch on Friday through Supper on Sunday. Most will be made “in house” but two will be on the go (serving as breaks during our 5-hour ride there and back to Minneapolis). We welcome homemade cookies or snacks to share, but please call us so we can monitor quantities and allergies.

1. Read the retreat information thoroughly, especially the “need to know” tab & the trip checklist!

2. Print the registration forms, fill them out, and sign or initial where needed (keep a copy for your records)….sorry, we don’t have an online registration system yet.

3. Mail to the office or scan the completed forms. Send scanned forms to: [email protected].

4. Enclose payment via check (made out to Into the Deep) -OR- pay by credit card via EZ Register (link is above; note that a fee is placed on all credit card transactions). Registration is non-refundable after Dec. 8 due to payments made on transportation and lodging.

5. Enclose a copy of your medical insurance card.

You may hold a spot on the retreat by sending an email to [email protected], but if your registration materials and payment are not received within one week of your email date, that spot will be opened up to others.
